The Full Story

Denise Harris is the dedicated founder of Hartford Sensory Garden, a nonprofit committed to providing sensory-friendly spaces for all people, regardless of income or disability. After her youngest son’s autism diagnosis, she became a stay-at-home mom of six, moving to subsidized housing in Hartford to prioritize her family. Inspired by her son’s needs and the lack of safe, accessible outdoor areas in the city, Denise launched Hartford Sensory Garden.
